Katie Alvarez — Senior

Katie is a Mass Communications major who is very committed to outreaching to low income and minority students. She was an outreach coordinator for Bridges Multicultural Center and serves as a high school mentor. Katie has done extensive study abroad in China and Singapore.

Autumn Andrews — Senior

Autumn is majoring in African American studies with an emphasis on music and culture. She is passionate about Corporate Social Responsibility and is interested in a career in Philanthropy or Non-Profit Development. Her work experience includes Retail Management and an internship at Porter Novelli, a global public relations agency. She is currently supporting Funding and Development efforts at the SAGE Scholars Program office.

Djajiijo Bola — Junior

Djajiijo is majoring in Nutritional Science with a minor in Global Poverty. He is interested in studying the role of health and nutrition in preventing disease. Djajiijo has strong interpersonal and communication skills, which he developed as an intern at the Marin Education Fund.

Verenice Bravo — Junior

Verenice is an intended Integrative Biology Major. She is passionate about increasing health care access to low-income communities and is exploring a career in health research. As a UC BUILD Director she used her leadership skills to improve programs, lead meetings, and train tutors.

Griselda Cardona — Senior

Griselda is a Mechanical Engineering major. She is the treasurer for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers chapter at UC Berkeley and is involved in both mentoring and tutoring high school students in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Griselda is proficient in English and Spanish and has excellent communication skills.

Rosa Chan — Junior

Rosa is majoring in Molecular Toxicology and is a dedicated environmentalist.  While at City College of San Francisco, she was awarded a highly competitive internship and was the recipient of the Genentech Scholar’s Award.  Rosa speaks Portuguese, Spanish, Cantonese, and English.

Diana Cruz — Senior

Diana is majoring in Mass Communications and Sociology and is interested in working in the communications field. She developed her analytical  skills while interning at Kaiser Permanente. While studying in Rome, Italy she also developed her marketing skills as she intern with Rome Reports TV News Agency. She is active in organizations at UC Berkeley that are committed to the retention and recruitment of underrepresented students.

Kevin Cuevas — Junior

Kevin is majoring in Legal Studies with an interest in pursuing law school for criminal law and justice. He is concurrently working two positions as a Security Monitor and as a Resident Assistant, where he currently oversees 32 students, under the Office of Student Development and the Residential and Student Services Programs.”

Isaiah Deresa — Senior

Isaiah is a Molecular Cell Biology major and plans to be a Research Scientist. He has served as an intern at UC Irvine’s Biomedical Research lab. Isaiah served in the U.S. Army and received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He recently completed an internship at Novartis.

Dante Dixson — Senior

Dante is majoring in Psychology and has helped young people as a tutor and mentor, as well as working as football coach for the Daly City Titans. He is interested in a career in organizational development.

Jashen EdwardsJunior

Jashen is a transfer and reentry student majoring in Music with a minor in Education. He is an accomplished musician and has used his entrepreneurial skills to develop the youth music program, Sounds of Life. He is interested in pursuing a career that combines his passion for music and education.

Nikka UmilJunior

Nikka is majoring in Political Economy and minoring in Public Policy. She is interested in exploring careers in private law or business. She is  the founder and Chair of the Student Ambassadors Program  for The Campaign for Berkeley and currently interns at the National Center for Youth Law. She is proficient in 3 languages.

David GarciaSophomore David is majoring in Integrative Biology and is interested in exploring careers in the health care industry. David is bilingual and wants to use his education and professional skills to improve the health care system. He has developed his interpersonal and organizational skills as an intern with Student Life and Advising Services on campus.

Whitnee GarrettJunior
Whitnee is majoring  in History with a minor in Education. She is very passionate about increasing educational opportunities for under resourced communities and has great presentation skills. She was a student ambassador and peer advisor to students at De Anza College.

Vanessa GatihiJunior

Vanessa is majoring in Political Economy and minoring in Spanish. She has extraordinary writing skills and was a staff writer for the Berkeley Political Review and Editor in Chief for the Cal Pre-Law Association’s magazine.

Glenda GuzmanSenior

Glenda is majoring in Political Science. She is interested in going into International Affairs and participated in the Cal-in-the-Capital Program in addition to being involved in student government and global warming initiatives.

Saba HaileSophomore

Saba is majoring in American Studies. She is interested in a career in business. She founded an organization to help orphanages in Eritrea and
is actively involved in Cal’s Black Recruitment and Retention Center and the Haas Undergraduate Black Business Association.

Mary Grace Holliday — Senior

Mary is a Social Welfare major. She has extensive experience in mentoring students of all age groups. She has a strong passion for helping communities in need. Mary has excellent communication and analytical skills.

Luis Suarez — Junior

Luis is majoring in Conservation and Resource Studies and minoring in Sustainable Design. He is interested in landscape architecture, green business consulting and restaurant entrepreneurship. His years of experience in public speaking, event planning, and service helped him earn Sustainablework’s Annual Eco-Star Award while an intern in their Business Greening Program. He currently holds a research apprenticeship where he will be traveling and researching climate change in Mexico this summer.

Olga KalashnikovaSenior

Olga is a Political Science major and is fluent in Russian. She has extensive experience in public speaking, interpersonal communication, and interpreting in immigration courts. Her work at several non-profit and business organizations was recognized by the prestigious Cal Alumni Leadership Scholarship. Olga is active in several organizations on campus that focus on business and law.

Jerry Allen Kim — Senior

Jerry is a Mechanical Engineering major. He is not only fluent in English, French and Korean, he is experienced in multiple computer languages as well. Jerry interned at the United States Department of Agriculture’s Technology Transfer Division and did a study abroad program in Korea.

Leonardo is majoring in Political Science and Anthropology. He is interested in Non-Profit Management, Public Health, and Law. He is currently a CAL Student Ambassador and a UCLA Law School Fellow. He has extensive presentation experience and speaks 3 languages.

Lashay MasseySophomore

Lashay is majoring in Social Welfare, with a minor in Public Policy.  She is interested in going into law or public policy. She has been actively involved in community service through her work at the Redevelopment Agency of Fresno and does extensive advocacy work for foster youth.

Destiny Whitfield Senior

Destiny Whitfield is majoring in Mass Communications. She has worked at the Quality of Life Center in Southern California where she coordinated events and served in a public relations position to local elected officials. She has also worked on a school campaign to provide tutoring and mentoring for students with physical disabilities.

Sadi MuJunior

Sadi is majoring in Economics with a minor in Japanese Studies. She is exploring a career in the finance and investment industries where she can use her analytical, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills. She was an active participant in the 6th annual BeAVC Venture Capital Case Competition and the Ooma Marketing Case Competition. She currently serves as the Social Co-Director for the Undergraduate Economics Association and speaks 4 languages.

Vemetria Monroe — Senior

Vemetria is majoring in Sociology. She has extensive experience working while going to school. Vemetria is interested in a career in marketing, advertising or communications, and interned at Provident Credit Union.

Babalola Ogunbiyi — Senior

Babalola Ogunbiyi is majoring in Economics with the long-term goal of providing research in areas of Economic sustainability to developing countries. Babalola has been a tutor at the Learning Center at Merritt College, as well as a Youth Advisor at the East Oakland Community Project.

Aurelia Olivas — Junior

Aurelia is majoring in Legal Studies. She has extraordinary time management by working 20 hours a week and carrying 18 units. She has also played on the Cal Women’s Rugby team.

Aminah Oliver — Senior

Aminah Oliver is an Asian Studies major and has taught science in Shenzhen, China. She has served in both the Navy and the Air Force, and has received the Navy’s Meritorious Promotion Award for distinguished leadership of 60 other service members. Aminah seeks to pursue a career in law with an emphasis on public service.

Jonathan OrtegaSenior

Jonathan is majoring in Philosophy and Political Science. He has extensive work experience with a local Council member and was awarded with an Intern of the Year recognition. Jonathan was also Vice President of his community college’s Writers Club and was a writing tutor there as well. He did an externship at Harvard University.

Amanda Pacheco — Senior

Amanda is an Economics major and will be entering law school in the fall. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and a mother of two. She has interned in the HR department at the Lawrence Berkeley Lab and the Accounting Department at Patelco Credit Union. She is looking for a full time position for summer 2010 in business or law.

Kaitlyn is majoring in Political Science. She is interested in law or non-profit work.  She has extensive work and travel experience and has outstanding time management, customer service and communication skills.

Kristine PhungFreshman

Kristine Phung is majoring in Molecular Cell Biology. She is interested in a career in the medical field. Her goal is to improve the health care of underprivileged countries. She has traveled to Vietnam extensively where she organized donations for nonprofit hospitals.

Gurpreet Singh — Senior

Gurpreet is majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Global Poverty and Practice, and is interested in public policy as well as the law. He has concurrently worked as a paralegal and atthe California Environmental Protection Agency. As an intern at SAGE, he is shaping SAGE’s online presence and organizing its financial literacy component.
