Coaching Program

“The coaching program has been a life changing experience. Although I have only been working with my coach for one semester, I feel like I have known her for years. She is always willing to listen and assist me with anything.”
Jacquelyne Williams, Business Administration, May 2007

What is coaching?

Professional coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that helps students produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, or businesses. Through the process of coaching, students deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.

In each meeting, the student chooses the focus of conversation, while the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. Coaching accelerates the student’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where the student is now and what he or she is willing to do to get to where he or she wants to be in the future. Results are a matter of the student’s intentions, choices and actions, supported by the coach’s efforts and application of the coaching process.

 Coaches:

  • Help students set better goals and then reach
    those goals.
  • Ask the students to do more than they would
    have done on their own.
  • Help the students focus better
in order to produce results more quickly.
  • Provide students with the tools, support and
structure to accomplish result more quickly.

Coaches work with students to:

  • Brainstorm options for effective action.
  • Update or expand visions and goals.
  • Increase ability to see high leverage opportunities.
  • Find balance in life between work, school, and family.
  • Improve communication
